In 1989 the German Karla Schefter came to Afghanistan – a completely devastated and impoverished country. For twenty years and at the risk of her life she has built up a complete hospital compound near Kabul and has helped war victims, ill children and women. In her autobiography she describes a moving picture of the Afghan people, their life and their culture.
